The Chrome Lining

I’ve always been a strong advocate for using Firefox instead of Safari (for Mac) or Internet Explorer (for Windows) because of its customization, add-ons, safety, and overall surfing pleasure. It’s been my browser of choice for a few years now and I would not have had it any other way. But this entry is not about Firefox. *gasp*

Over the years other browsers have come and gone – recently mostly come instead of gone – such as Flock and Songbird. Flock is the online socialite’s dream and Songbird is really the music lover’s paradise. Firefox has been the stable in-between for those that are not really one or the other and it’s done a damn good job at staying at the top. Somewhere along Firefox 3 I got just a tad bit disappointed in FF because of some text rendering issues in Windows. That aside, these three browsers have done it all for me in the past.

And yesterday. Yesterday, Google Chrome was released. I’ve just downloaded it and now I’m using to to write this entry. So far I lovelovelove the feel of it. There’s something very pronounced about the browser every time I click a link or even open a new tab. It’s like BAM and there it is. Describing the “feel” of a browser is pretty difficult because it’s a personal experience. A personal preference, really. I just have to say I love the way it feels.

The “feel” of a browser is something that’s real important to me. It’s the only reason why I cannot everrrr use Opera. It feels choppy, square, and the load times are just ehh. Definitely a browser worth checking out if you’re OK with how it feels, but I just can’t use it. =\

Anyway, not saying on functionality of Google Chrome yet because I’ve only literally visited a handful of sites, none of which are web apps yet, so… yannoe gotta give it some time. I’ll be updating on how I like this browser but so far the features look great and everything is so easy! Load times are damn fast, too. And all of this is coming from a public release beta! Tryyy it. (:
