Behold Futuristic Brilliance

So I said I wasn’t going to talk about Spring collections – I just wasn’t in the mood. And then a heat wave struck Southern California… so the spring collections are quite refreshing.

Gareth Pugh refused to show a traditional live runway at his spring show instead opting for a breathtaking video showcasing his work. The video manages to capture so much more. There is a feeling accompanied by his clothing, a world he has created. During those 11 minutes I wanted to breath in that world and become one with it. The feeling just overtook me. It was not so obviously fashion, so obviously clothing. There was a lifestyle, a world in which the fashion just melded right in. The music was a little Mortal Kombat, but in the best way (I’m a fan of the old game, not going to lie). The world was very futuristic and cyber kinetic; yet, the clothing was far from the typical rigidity associated with the future. The prints were tribal and the cloths were airy gossamer contraptions. My mind was blown.

Likes and Personal Style

I sometimes feel that my personal style and what I like/love are sometimes different only because the former is about finding out what looks best on. I’m 5 feet, with the slight chance of 5’1″ but doubtful. So what looks best on a tall lanky model will not always looks good on me. And they’re thin, I’m not. But I’m so in love with oversized blazers, knits, and funky shaped things. But the fact is that I would probably look like I’m drowning in an article of clothing that’s oversized. Oh goodness but I am soooo enamored with this look from Filippa K:

That is one beautiful looking wool blazer. Except if I wore it I would look like a) I were going in to an office job b) probably look like I’m wearing an oversized wool dress. That 100% silk blouse just looks so amazing the way it is messily tucked but still gives off an air of “done up” because it is a button up blouse. And those PANTS. So casual, yet so chic. And they look incredibly soft, and a little bit loose.

Alexander Wang F/W 2010

I refuse to discuss Spring 2011 Runway on my blog… it’s still summer weather-wise in SoCal geez! I’m going to stay focused on Fall and Winter attire. I can worry about Spring a year from now. Lmao~ (Though don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen all the photos and watched the live streams.)
