Seven Years.

I try not to ever talk-up/up-sell or mention things coming up in the future because it’s the opposite of “being mindful” of the present. And logistically speaking then I will discuss things at least twice, and really who needs repetition? You see, I would be talking about something before it happens (setting expectations) then also as it happens/just after the fact (my reflection of what happened).  That’s one time too many in my opinion. I think… live-tweeting things is my preferred method. It paints the current moment in just the right light.

But in this instance, fuck that. I’m very bad at writing about events after they have happened because they were substantially lovely and entertaining that it’s just exhausting explaining what it is I liked so much about any given event. It feels better to let the memory exist in the past than trying to explain/relive it afterward.

  • Dinner and Maleficent at El Capitan Theater (w/ a magic show, too!)
  • Saosin concert ft. Anthony Green on vox (“Seven Years” , yo)
  • Les Miserables play
  • City of Hope Fashion show
  • Birthday hang for my oldest friend. Practically known one another most of our lives.

Latest and Greatest:

  • Book club hang super late Saturday night was ~beyond~ rejuvenating as per usual. I love those guyz to piecesssss. And all of them in slightly different ways. I feel like sister-bear since I am da only girl in our group. It’s such a mix – no two of  us have exactly the same interests. Good balance I think.
  • This weekend was blissful.
  • Starting a new pescatarian diet.
  • Once again resumed extracurricular nutritional studies… (Sometimes I wonder if I’m on the wrong side of the produce industry or if I should consider working in health.)
  • Very much enjoying Buddhist studies right now.
  • Podcasts power my mornings.
  • We’re planning some Game of Thrones book club hangs on Sundays, starting this week. I ~cannot~ wait! 🙂
  • The super-sudden culling of unnecessaries in my life. It’s like I can breathe again.

Memorable lyrics/lines:

  • “In every bond I search, I only get distance. There’s only loneliness here.” (Rough English translation of Hindi)
  • “Distances are decreasing yet the distance between our hearts is ever-increasing.” (This is a translation via subtitles. My version: We are more connected than ever and yet our hearts are far more disconnected than ever.)

I am very close to finishing The Sheltering Sky (about 80 pages left, roughly). I honestly wish I could read faster. My attention span is limited to bursts at a time, I swear. And then of course, the environment must be just right. And then there is the issue of balancing all my other forms of entertainment.

Upcoming reads:

  • The Night Circus
  • The Goldfinch
  • Marooned in Realtime I started this last year around this time… and naturally got distracted. I want to give this another go super soon.
  • The Fault in Our Stars

Everyone on social media is talking about Sophia Amoruso’s #GIRLBOSS – which compels me to take a peek at the book but there are too many books on this here good earth for me to sincerely pursue a curiosity. Instead I purchased it and gifted it to my dear friend M. since she expressed interest in reading it. 🙂 I’m happy for this upcoming week. It seems bursting with possibility. I have a lot of things to do and I’m finally confident I can accomplish them. (Work has been HELL. New program, constant stresses. But I mean… just thinking about it and dwelling on it makes me … hurt. Ah… stress levels rising already. Let’s end on a good note…)
