Backdated: During Workshop

My contacts are just rly brng (really burning). Ergh I had my leftover Chinese food and omg… it was so much. And there is a Lunch Panel in 40 minutes.

This workshop on public policy is utterly pointless. Worst workshop ever. I wish I had chosen another one. I (unreadable, but positive word) the way I wrote the words lunch panel up there. Haha. Tomorrow is going to be nerve-racking. Argh… I’ve never lobbied before. >_> Eek. Hah idea from looking outside the window.

She’s touching the bottom of her shoe… the heel… ugh. So gross. She needs to wash her hands asap! Meh I am so sleepy… ugh. I slept like 11 hrs… w/ just a few times in which I woke up. Ugh, the east coast makes me so damn tired forreal. On the west coast I never sleep, but here wow – it’s all I want to do! Argh.

Later

– UC Fees have increased 93% in the last 7 years
– UCs in top 20 most expensive cities in CA.
– Students have been taxed services through referenda b/c no $
– The UC will be put on a blacklist b/c our fees have gone up > inflation
– Due to cuts to finaid, grants + loans on the state level, higher ed has become inaccessible
o Cut to LEAP -→ fed funding, matched to Cal Grant (which has decreased)
o Perkins loans & CCAMPIS, Pell, Fed Workstudy, FAFSA
– Diversity in UCs
o $ inc. academic prep
o TRIO, GEAR Up, under-repped ppl
– Hate Crimes
o Oxnard
o Lawrence King

Side note: I blogged about Lawrence King a few entries ago.

-1.5 million did not apply for finaid in 2004. FAFSA can be simplified by getting the info direct from IRS.
-2/3rds questions can be eliminated this way.
-Not everyone has access to that info (testimonials)
