Backdated: On The Plane From D.C.

Wow, that was a great experience today, lobbying…

Our school and schools from all over the country stayed at The L’enfant in Washington D.C. from Friday to Tuesday (well, for me, at least… others coming back Wednesday). I don’t even know how to summarize all that we did. Every day was a 12 hour day with workshops, delegation meetings, legislative briefings, regional meetings (Can I get a GPIT?! HEYYYY!) lmao… GPIT stands for Golden Pacific Is Terrific. Golden Pacific is the name of the region of school in California, Arizona, and some other states… lmao.

Oh man… well this morning we had to meet up at the front lobby of the hotel at 8:30am (ungodly hour, forreal status) so that we could all march to Capitol Hill together. We basically rallied with all 400 of us carrying signs, chanting, etc. Some of the things we chanted were:
– “What do we want?” “FREE EDUCATION!” “When do we want it?” “NOW!”
– “Education is a right! It’s our right. This is our fight.”
– “Everywhere we go (everywhere we go), people wanna know (people wanna know) who we are (who we are) so we tell them (so we tell them). We are the students (the mighty mighty students). Fighting for justice. And an education.”
– “We’re fed up!” “Can’t take it no more!”

When we got to a park we had a press conference. We basically said what we wanted and why, and etc. After about an hour of that we all dispersed and I went with Miguel, Jose, and Tina so we could find the building in which Congresswoman Lois Capps worked at so we could go lobby. Our appointment wasn’t until 1pm so we had over an hour to get some food, take photos around D.C., and etc. It was pretty damn fucking awesome, that’s for sure!! (:

I definitely want to go back next year!! (: Amazing, really.

Mm, I’mma watch a movie now… but I’ve written for the day and I honestly cannot describe how great and awesome it all was.

Ohoh!! And I made some amazing friends from UC Berkeley (Michelle, Dionne, Meghan). I sort of just struck up a friendship with them right away and I had dinner with them every night (+ Danny, Scott Lu, Bill Schiebler, Courtney Weaver). AND… I developed a major crush on the most gorgeous girl ever. Her name’s Kristi, and she attends Skyline, which is in NorCal. I need to find her on facebook… except of all people, I did NOT catch her last name. Argh… but anyway, every time we ran into each other I couldn’t stop staring into her eyes and I would just get all flustered and I’d get lost for words. She did smile every time and she always made it a point to talk to me… Omg she was just so amazingly gorgeous, cute, sexy… everything. <3 *sigh* I honestly hope to see her again or at least srsly find her on facebook. I dun have any photos of her, which is pretty emo stuff. How I first noticed her, apart from her gorgeous looks, was because I loved the way she wore her eyeliner… lmao. I’m so into make-up… >_>;

Anyway, yesyesyesss… movie time!!

That’s how many hours of sleep I got this morning. 4am to 8am. I stayed up semi-studying as best I could for my Social Psych midterm. Ugh, if I do badly on this I have to do extremely well on the next midterm and the final. I believe I can change my study habits, but I know I’m just saying that because this is a good week so far. ): It won’t always be that way… no matter how much I wish it.

Anyway, I actually fuhreaking woke up and got breakfast (a mango smoothie) and then walked to class. Yeah, I’m tired, but I have to think positively considering my day will NOT end until 1am-ish tomorrow morning. Bummer. At noon I have Japanese, then at 1 I’m going to go eat some lunch (gotta keep that energy going). At 2-ish I have to go back to FT and go vote!! First, I need to refresh my memory on the propositions, though. (: So maybe 3-ish is when I’ll get to go vote. I’m glad for this break, otherwise I wouldn’t have time to go vote, imagine that! Alright, so then at 6 I have to leave again to go proxy for Paulina for the RHA meeting from 6:30 to 8. Then I get to chill for some an hour-ish ‘cus at 9:30 I have the Program Board movie to go help with and attend. Then there’s the clean-up right after… so ugh.

I don’t know when I will get my hw done, and that’s really scary because I have linguistics homework due tomorrow, and as always, Japanese hw. Ooh, actually Valeria has TA Office Hours from 5-6… I could definitely probably make it if I come back to campus right away-ish. So much for having a rest break. Damn.

Oh yeah… my macbook is having “kernal panics” … why does Apple hate me? Sean and Tyler are helping me out with the prob, though, thankfully! Glad to know these people! And yeah, I’m starting to enjoy Program Board again. The meeting yesterday was actually fun. Sweeeet-ness.

My pass time to pick classes for Spring is on Feb. 12th. So soon! I went and decided what classes I want for next quarter on a time sheet I made. I hope I can get them. Forserious.

And, this might sound impulsive and sudden, but I don’t want my double-major to include Linguistics anymore. As I’m taking Linguistics 20 this quarter I realize, yeah, it’s fun… but I’m not that great at it (at least not now…). I walked in early to linguistics yesterday and I saw my professor from my Phil4: Intro To Ethics class that I took in the summer. And it brought back memories of how passionate I was in that class, and how well I did on the essays. So… I have resolved to make my double majors Psychology and Philosophy, Concentration II: Ethics and Public Policy. That way I can focus on psychology ethics. Sweet. I love it! I’ll be taking the required course for it next semester (hopefully) and I guess that will determine how well I like it. I hate to be so impulsive, but I feel rushed to pick something and take the classes already.

I also need to retake Math 34A next quarter, ugh. My GPA for Psych major pre-reqs has to be pretty high… so I shouldn’t try to wait… and just take it again considering I did pretty badly. But that’s life. Just walk it off.

Tralalala. (: Two blogs in one day. Not bad.

Debate This

“It took a Clinton to clean up the first Bush’s mess; it’ll take another Clinton to clean the second Bush’s mess,” is what Hillary Clinton said at the last democratic debate on Thursday night. I’ve been wanting to quote it since then, but have not even had the time! I think it was a brilliant and funny line in response to a question asked at the debate. (: Voting on Tuesday. Woot woot!

Chilled with Sandy today. We went to a Japanese restaurant and had boba milk tea, mochi, and a bento box. Omg, super delicious. Finally I got to eat. I didn’t eat all of Friday because there was absolutely no time… seriously. ): And as I tried to eat this morning for breakfast I just felt extremely nauseous since I hadn’t eaten anything, and in trying to finally eat it was impossible. So food = good!

So many random little thoughts, but nothing to really blog about (publicly).

Exciting News

I had my appointment with Alfredo this morning. Cray-cray status. I won’t discuss; I don’t feel like it. There are more pressing matters to discuss.

I will be leaving tonight at 8pm back home (LA) with a bunch of other people from Associated Students because there is a UC Regents meeting tomorrow at UCLA. Instead of staying at the hotel with a bunch of other people (I am so not down for that), my mom will pick both me and David up near UCLA by the hotel that the other people are staying. In the morning, David’s sister will take us to UCLA for the Regents meeting. Basically, the discussion will be about the budget for California and how that affects fees for the UCs.

I’ll miss two classes, but that’s OK. I’m down. Anyway, we’ll be back around 3pm tomorrow… and the most exciting news is to come!

Hillary Clinton will be on campus tomorrow at 6:30PM in the Robinson Gym! UCSB has the nation’s highest voter turnout out of all the universities! W00t w00t!! 😀

Geeeez, I love financial and political issues. Though, not enough to change my major to Poli-Sci. ^_^; I still like mental medical shitz way better. Haha.

And I officially looooove RSS Feeds. I’m officially addicted.
