I Be Back

So, I impulsively decided to come back home for this three day weekend. First, I checked my monetary funds and I still have a loooot of money (for a poor college student) in my account so I was like okay, whatevz. I was feeling slightly depressed so you know… why not come home and try to relax and forget about all those other crazy at-school stresses.

Ooh, okay so you know how I attended the UC Regents meeting at UCLA on Thursday? WELL! There was an article today in the LA Times about it, and in UCLA’s daily newspaper, The Daily Bruin. There is a photo of me in The Daily Bruin!!! Oh em gee… it’s pretty damn tight, I’d say. Though, it’s a hoooorrible photo, so I won’t post it here. Haha, whatever. Who cares. I just still won’t post it. ^_^

I did not get to attend Hillary Clinton, and ughh.. I’m still very bummed. John Edwards was in LA Thursday, but he would be there at around 12:30PM so we were all still in the Regents meeting. Sucks for that.

Okay, today I had a business-y meeting with Paulina and I expressed my wishes to join other boards/committees on AS. For sure I want to be on Student Lobby, SCORE, Academic Affairs Board, and MAAAAYBE Finance Board. That last one is kinda spreading myself too thin that I’d be very useless all over the place just because I’d be trying to do too much. I know I want to go to Sacramento with Student Lobby, and I want to go to Washington D.C. with UCSA/USSA. So… I really enjoy UCSA as well. Christine’s position looks like so much fun… and she’s a fourth year… but some Justin guy might very likely get her position next year. There’s always the year after that, and just never know! I also sort of want to run during Spring for off-campus rep (and there are 15 of them)… just for fun. I really want to be on Legislative Council next year, but you have to get elected. David is having second thoughts on running, which is pretty sad because it would be awesome to run with him and both get the position. (: On Leg. Council you have to join two committees, so there is definitely a lot of commitment required. I’m so down! I’m thinking of stepping down from my ASPB position, so that will free up most of my time for all these other boards.

I had my phonetics quiz in Linguistics today, and I’m pretty confident I got most, if not all of them, right. I did well on my Kanji quiz that I took Wednesday. 17/20. Not bad, I’d say considering how many kanji were on the quiz. School is really fun right now, even if it is slightly overwhelming what with all the AS things I want to join. No matter ‘cus I’m seriously having a lot of fun right now.

W00t w00t!

Sheer Exhaustion

Even after taking an hour and a half long nap, I’m still so very tired. Thirteen of us left yesterday night to LA and most of them stayed at a hotel, while three of us lived close enough to go sleep at home for one random day in the middle of the week! Mother picked up me and David since we both live in the 562. xD; I got home, chatted online a bit, and then went to bed at 1am (bad idea).

I awoke this morning at 6am to my alarm AND to David providing me with a wake up call. I was so cold, so tired, so sleepy. Yet, I stayed motivated that the day’s events would be well worth it. I got up, dressed, and groggily made my way to my front door where David and his mom would take us to UCLA.

We got there at 8:30-ish… and ughhhh I have to say UCLA needs to calm the fuck down with those hills. Hells to the no! I was dyiiiing, forserious status. By the time we got to the Conference room for the UC Regents meeting I wanted to cry from how tired I was. I suddenly very much appreciate UCSB’s campus. (:

The UC Regents meetings was the most interesting experience this year thus far. I’m so happy with the presence we UC students brought to the meeting. There were several very depressing (but reality check-status) presentations that were given to wake up the Regents about the decision that they need to make about the budget cut in the state of California for education. Previous years they have always increased student fees. In 7 years, fees have gone up over 93%, and that is simply ridiculous. Enrollment may also decrease, but the class of ’08 is the largest graduating class in the history of California! How much harder is it going to be for these kiddies to get into college? ): Something needs to be done!

The vote will come at the next meeting in March and I’m hoping to attend forreal status. I’m so very passionate about this! I really love getting involved.

I’ve done my hw for the night and I’m thinking of getting some serious sleep, even though my class isn’t until 12. ^_^;

Exciting News

I had my appointment with Alfredo this morning. Cray-cray status. I won’t discuss; I don’t feel like it. There are more pressing matters to discuss.

I will be leaving tonight at 8pm back home (LA) with a bunch of other people from Associated Students because there is a UC Regents meeting tomorrow at UCLA. Instead of staying at the hotel with a bunch of other people (I am so not down for that), my mom will pick both me and David up near UCLA by the hotel that the other people are staying. In the morning, David’s sister will take us to UCLA for the Regents meeting. Basically, the discussion will be about the budget for California and how that affects fees for the UCs.

I’ll miss two classes, but that’s OK. I’m down. Anyway, we’ll be back around 3pm tomorrow… and the most exciting news is to come!

Hillary Clinton will be on campus tomorrow at 6:30PM in the Robinson Gym! UCSB has the nation’s highest voter turnout out of all the universities! W00t w00t!! 😀

Geeeez, I love financial and political issues. Though, not enough to change my major to Poli-Sci. ^_^; I still like mental medical shitz way better. Haha.

And I officially looooove RSS Feeds. I’m officially addicted.
